On 3 and 4 June 2026, Ecorigin participated in the Sustainability in Packaging Asia 2026 summit as an official sponsor, held in Singapore on 3 and 4 June. Ecorigin is proud to have taken the stage as a presenter at the Summit, addressing an international audience of brand owners, procurement heads, and sustainability pioneers. On the morning of 4th June, Ecorigin’s Regional Marketing Head, Yeo Jing Wen, delivered a keynote address titled “Paving the Way to a Plastic-free Future — Biomass-based Packaging as the Cornerstone of your ESG Strategy.”

During the keynote, we addressed the primary hurdle companies face when shifting to sustainable packaging: "The Impossible Triangle"—the historical struggle to balance sustainability, functional barrier performance, and commercial viability without compromising one for the other.
Historically, eco-friendly alternatives have suffered from a barrier deficit, failing to match the grease and moisture resistance of traditional, fossil-fuel-based polyethylene (PE) coatings. Furthermore, brands have been hesitant to switch due to the prohibitive capital expenditure (CapEx) required to alter existing manufacturing setups.
Ecorigin’s presentation demonstrated that true barrier parity can be achieved through natural polymer chemistry. By manipulating natural macromolecular structures like starches and proteins, we create highly dense crystalline barrier webs on paper that block grease and moisture effectively.
A key highlight of our presentation was the introduction of Ecorigin’s end-to-end manufacturing model. To protect our proprietary technology, Ecorigin acts as a comprehensive manufacturing partner for brands, absorbing all technical risk by managing the entire process under one roof, from fully natural and sustainable raw materials, to proprietary biomass coating, to high-fidelity printing and final package fabrication.

The summit also served as the ideal launchpad for our newest product category: short-term paper food packaging featuring our plastic-free barrier coating technology. Designed for fast-paced food service and retail environments, these finished solutions—ranging from grease-resistant food wraps to high-barrier containers and meal trays—offer a direct, drop-in alternative to traditional PE-lined items. We are proud to share that our short-term paper food packaging line has undergone stringent independent testing to verify both its performance and safety. Our solutions have officially attained compliance with the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) plastic-free standards, FDA food contact safety standards, SGS premium performance testing, and are certified 100% PFAS-free.
Furthermore, to fulfill our commitment to Dual-Path Circularity, our materials are currently undergoing the full testing cycles for OK Compost Home Composting (TÜV Austria) and BPI Compostable certifications, ensuring that our products will soon carry the world’s most trusted stamps for environmental degradation. They allow brands to protect their products perfectly while instantly eliminating plastic reliance and shielding themselves from future EPR plastic taxes.
Beyond immediate food service needs, our presentation also highlighted Ecorigin’s breakthroughs in extending product shelf life for ambient and dry goods. We introduced our high-barrier aluminized paper packaging, specifically engineered for products requiring robust, long-term protection against oxygen, light, and moisture vapor, such as oatmeal, chocolate, tea bags, soaps, and pet food. By replacing traditional multi-layer plastic or foil laminates with our high-barrier paper structures, brands can dramatically lower their environmental footprint without risking product freshness or quality. Like our short-term packaging, this range is delivered as a fully finished, turnkey solution, providing a seamless transition for consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies looking to phase out non-recyclable materials from their retail portfolios.
